The first chapter of a child’s education at Rainbow International School begins at the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which covers the ages 2 to 5 years.
The new EYFS curriculum (2013) is based on the three prime and four specific areas of learning, and the three characteristics of effective learning, set out below:

- Personal, social and emotional development
Specific areas of learning:

Characteristics of effective learning:

- Creating and thinking critically
In the Early Years unit, children learn through a combination of play and ‘mat time’ sessions in which the topics are introduced and new concept s are taught.
