Learning Support in Primary has been making some big changes this year. One of the main things is our newly developed Life Skills programme. This programme is in its early stages but we are hoping it will grow more and more each academic year. It has been devised in order to prepare children for the big, wide world.
Currently it is being run for 1 hour a week and the children work in small groups rotating through 3 broad areas. The areas covered are; Gardening, Cooking and Self Help. In Gardening we have been working closely with Amos, the head gardener, planting things in the primary planting beds, including our own pineapples which we grew from pineapple tops.
Various things have been cooked; pancakes, fruit kebabs and cupcakes. While Self Help looks at good teeth brushing, washing hands and faces as well as brushing your hair and getting dressed. The pictures show the children participating in the three areas.
